Slaughtering Process

Broiler Chickens
I will briefly go through the process of how most big chicken abattoirs operate. Big meaning anything above 5000 chickens per day. Some of the following procedures are practised by smaller farms too.
Step1. The chickens arrive at the slaughter house at a average age of 6 weeks (40 days old).
Step2. The chickens are placed onto a automatic chain hanging upside down.
Step3. The chickens go through the stunner which is a half drum filled with water and has low voltage current.¹ (The current is to stun the chicken making them passive for a few minutes to make it easy for the slaughterers.)
Step5. The chicken reaches a long drum with hot water to to make the defeathering process easy.
Step6. The chicken heads which is still hanging goes into a narrow metal line so that the heads can be pulled off.
Step7. The chicken gets defeather and cut up
¹ Issue arises as to whether the voltage is sometimes too high and the chicken dies before getting slaughtered
