Because of the hike in meat prices (like everything else) it has becoming a common trend of people to purchase their own animal and have it slaughtered or slaughtering it themselves. Once the animal is slaughtered it then needs to be cut up for storage. Butchery’s charge more or less R4.00 (less than one US dollar) per kilo. Now even non-Muslim do this but the problem comes in when they take it to a Muslim butchery for cutting. This causes or could cause cross contamination with the halaal meat/products which makes the butcher shop become a doubtful source to buy from.I personally have come across two occurrences of this happening and halaal certification was withdrawn as a result of this careless attitude towards importance of halaal.

i know this is a bit off the discussion but how much cheaper is it to buy, slaughter and cut up an animal as compared to buying meat from the butcher?
